Two grave sins and one sheep

Someone asked me why God forgave David even though David broke two of then ten commandments. David murdered his neighbor & committed adultery with his neighbor's wife.

It is a puzzling question.
But the answer I got was humility.
David was humble.
And, after recognizing and repenting of his sin, he did not return to that sin.

Basically, God exalts the humble but resists the proud. Pride is a sin or at least, a precursor to sin and God does hate haughty lips.

Remember the parable that Jesus told of the Pharisee and the publican?

Luke 18:9-14 (KJV)  And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

So, Jesus has a similar invitation to you today. Just like the invitation prophet Nathan gave to David. We have all sinned. We all need to repent. And if we draw near to God in humility with a truly repentant heart. He will not cast us off. (John 3: 16-18)

John 3:16-18  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

If you haven't submitted to Jesus, I encourage you to do so. Have a blessed day. ❤💗💓
